Tragedy strikes Kogi poly as lecturer dies in class

The community of Kogi state polytechnic has been plunged into mourning following the sudden death of Anslem Ojodomo, a lecturer.

Ojodomo collapsed during a classroom session on Thursday while delivering a lecture to students.

Efforts to save him at a nearby hospital were unsuccessful.

The incident comes just a month after Barnabas Akuba, another lecturer died shortly after completing his PhD programme, heightening anxiety within the institution.

Sources noted that Ojodomo had been active and engaged in a meeting just hours before his lecture.

‎”The incident occurred during a classroom session. The lecturer suddenly slumped while addressing the students, throwing the class into confusion and panic,” a source within the school said.

‎”He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention but was later confirmed dead despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life.

‎”It is more worrisome that both Anslem and Barnabas died after defending their PhD thesis.

‎”Anslem was in a meeting some hours before going for the lecture. We cannot imagine that a man who was bubbling and full of life in the meeting is now dead,” a member of staff of the institution stated.

The management of the Kogi State Polytechnic had yet to issue a statement on the incident as of press time.
