The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election held on Saturday.

KeepLoss reports that the governor was re-elected after polling 319,224 votes over his closest rivals in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olumayokun Oluyede and African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dare Bejide, across the state’s 16 local governments.

The Returning Officer for the election, Prof Adenike Oladiji, who is the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Akure, announced the results in the early hours of Sunday at the INEC’s headquarters on Iyin Road in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

Oladiji said, “Therefore, I, Adenike, am the returning officer for the 2026 Ekiti governorship election…Oyebanji Abiodun Abayomi, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and stands re-elected.”

While the APC polled 319,224 votes, the PDP candidate polled 40, 533 votes, and the ADC candidate amassed 12,872 votes.

The Vice-Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has been threatened with a lawsuit over allegations of purchasing the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP )’s forms for various political offices in Kano.

KeepLoss reports that the PRP State Chairman, Abdulkadir Musa Guza, made the accusation on Sunday, while speaking at a press briefing at the NUJ Press Centre, Kano.

Guza expressed concern that hundreds of aspirants seeking to contest under the party are now left in confusion, uncertain about their political fate.

3. ‘I Faced Spiritual Pressure’ – Gov. Diri Speaks On Choice Of New Deputy

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has recalled facing spiritual pressure before selecting his new deputy governor, Peter Akpe, following the death of Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo on December 11, 2025.

KeepLoss recalls that Akpe was sworn in on February 25, two months after Ewhrudjakpo’s demise.

Speaking on Sunday during a special thanksgiving service held in honour of Akpe at the RCCG regional headquarters along Sani Abacha Expressway in Yenagoa, Diri said God’s direction and prayers guided his decision.

The governor explained that Akpe’s competence, rather than speculation about personal connections, guided his choice.

Diri also described the prevailing peace and security in Bayelsa as priceless, urging residents and the church to continue praying for leaders.

4. Otti Went To Tinubu Behind Me To Demand Funding For International Airport – Keyamo

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has revealed how the governor of Abia State, Alex Otti rejected Federal Government plan to build an airstrip in the state.

According to him, Otti chose to build a full-fledged international airport instead.

KeepLoss reports that Keyamo disclosed this in the official unveiling of two Boeing 737-800NG aircraft acquired by United Nigeria Airlines in Lagos.

Keyamo also revealed that negotiations were ongoing for the first direct international cargo flight from Guangzhou, China, to the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

He said the federal government had initially proposed an airstrip for Abia State and captured the project in the 2024 budget as part of efforts to expand aviation infrastructure across the country.

The minister said the decision followed his recommendation to President Bola Tinubu that Abia State lacked both an airport and an airstrip.

He added, however, that Otti approached the President with a proposal to upgrade the project into an international airport through a counterpart funding arrangement.

5. JAMB Ends Admissions Into Affiliated Degree Programmes In Colleges Of Education

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has discontinued admissions to degree programmes offered by Colleges of Education affiliated with universities, effective from the 2026/2027 academic session.

KeepLoss reports that the decision was contained in JAMB’s newly released NCE/ND Agric Registration Guidelines issued by the Office of the Registrar in June 2026.

According to the Board, admissions into all affiliated degree programmes offered by Colleges of Education will cease from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The Board also prohibited direct admissions into 100 and 200 levels in Colleges of Education, directing that all new students must gain admission through the Nigeria Certificate in Education programme.

6. ADC Candidate Rejects Ekiti Gov Election Result

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election, Ambassador Dare Bejide, has rejected the outcome of the poll.

KeepLoss reports that Bejide described the election as a “mockery of democracy,” alleging widespread vote-buying, intimidation and irregularities.

He spoke after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji, the winner of the election.

Bejide said he was rejecting the result “in its entirety,” insisting that the exercise lacked credibility.

Popular Nigerian streamer, Peller, has traditionally tied the knot with his fiancée, Jarvis.

KeepLoss reports that Peller, in a post on his Instagram page on Sunday, revealed that he has completed the traditional marriage rites after travelling to Jarvis’ hometown in Benin City to pay her bride price.

Peller expressed appreciation to both families for their blessings.

He wrote, “Today, I proudly paid the bride price of the woman I love.

“A beautiful journey has officially begun, and I’m grateful to both families for their blessings.

“She said “yes” to forever, and now it’s time to build our future together. Officially off the market.”

The payment of the bride price comes barely two weeks after Peller proposed to Jarvis, in Ghana.

8. Nollywood Actor Hospitalised, In Need Of Surgery

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has disclosed that a veteran Nollywood actor, Benedict Johnson is hospitalised and requires surgery.

KeepLoss reports that the National President of the AGN, Abubakar Yakubu, confirmed the development on Saturday while speaking to newsmen.

The confirmation follows public concerns raised by a viral video showing the actor undergoing an MRI scan.

He stated that the thespian is undergoing medical treatment for an undisclosed health condition that requires surgery.

Yakubu stated that the leadership of the guild is fully aware of the actor’s medical challenges and has committed to providing the necessary institutional support to ensure a successful surgical procedure.

9. Lamine Yamal Makes World Cup History As Spain Thrash Saudi Arabia

Spain got their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign back on track in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia, inspired by teenage star Lamine Yamal, who became the nation’s second-youngest World Cup goalscorer.
