Lekan Alabi, a senior chief in the Olubadan-in-Council and a veteran journalist, has died at 76.
According to the Media Aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Adeola Oloko, Alabi, who held the traditional title of Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, died in Lagos on Saturday morning.
Family sources told TVC that the late journalist will be buried on Sunday according to Islamic rites.
Alabi served as Press Secretary to several military and civilian governors in Oyo State.
Over several decades, he made important contributions to journalism, public communication, and media management.
He was known as one of Oyo State’s most respected media personalities and played a key role in shaping government communication during important political changes in the state.
Colleagues and associates remember Alabi for his professionalism, intelligence, and dedication to clear public communication.
In addition to his work in journalism, his role in the Olubadan-in-Council made him an important voice in Ibadan’s traditional matters.
