“Some People Just Sit Down In The Comfort Of Their Homes And Start Spreading Rumour–Sani

Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, has reportedly stated that his administration will not accept any activities that could undermine the state’s peace and security, as stated in a report that was published by The Cable on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

The remarks were made by the governor on Monday, while he was receiving chiefs of security services for Iftar, which is the evening meal that marks the conclusion of the daily fast that occurs during the holy month of Ramadan.

His words emphasised how important it is to preserve harmony in a state that is well-known for having a diverse population and complicated social dynamics.

During the gathering, Sani referred to Kaduna as a “diverse and delicate” state, underlining the fact that its variety necessitates cautious management in order to avoid conflict.

He emphasised that although the right to freedom of speech is a basic right, it should not be abused in order to disseminate false information that could instigate violence or lead to the destruction of property.

According to him, the burden of maintaining social stability is shared by all members of society, and individuals are obligated to take prudence while communicating sensitive subjects, particularly on social media platforms.

In addition, the governor elaborated that his administration is receptive to criticism from opposition parties and members of civil society; but, he made it quite clear that he does not tolerate intentional lies that are intended to undermine the stability of the state.

He made the observation that spreading false information and rumours can have severe repercussions, and that individuals who do so are undermining the peace and security that the state government is attempting to maintain.

The message that Sani delivered emphasised the administration’s dedication to accountability while simultaneously focusing on the importance of responsible public discourse.

It was especially pointed out by Sani that social media is becoming an increasingly influential factor in shaping public perception. He also mentioned that certain persons take use of internet platforms in order to disseminate material that has not been vetted while they are at home.

The use of freedom of expression as a cloak for activities that could stir unrest or generate panic was something that he warned the state administration would not tolerate.

His comments served as a timely reminder that although citizens have the freedom to voice their beliefs, those expressions must not, under any circumstances, endanger the safety of the general public or foster conflict.

The statement that he made was as follows: “Some people simply sit down in the convenience of their own homes and begin spreading rumours regarding social media. People who want to stir problems should not hide behind the pretext of freedom of speech. We are not going to tolerate such in the state of Kaduna.”See_More…
