The Shawn Exchange has launched ShawnX app, a new cryptocurrency and digital payments application, as competition intensifies in Nigeria’s rapidly growing fintech market.
The app, now available on the App Store and Google Play Store, allows users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies with naira, convert naira to digital assets, trade gift cards for cash, and pay for airtime and data.
The company said the platform was built as an all-in-one solution to reduce friction in digital transactions.
The platform launch became pertinent as it seeks to eliminate many of the barriers associated with digital transactions by offering speed, convenience, and security to both individual users and businesses operating in an increasingly digital economy.
Speaking on the launch, Ajayi Oluwadamilare, chief executive officer, Shawn Exchange, described the application as more than a cryptocurrency exchange.

He said the platform represents the company’s long-term commitment to building an inclusive financial ecosystem where digital assets and traditional currencies coexist effortlessly.
According to him, ShawnX was created to provide Nigerians with a seamless and secure gateway between cryptocurrency and naira while laying the technological foundation for efficient cross-border payments across Africa.
“Our vision is to create a seamless, secure and accessible platform that empowers individuals and businesses to move seamlessly between cryptocurrencies and the naira, also empowering cross border payments.” Ajayi said.
He disclosed that the company’s immediate objective is to build a community of more than 100,000 active users in Nigeria through exceptional service delivery before extending its footprint across the African continent.
The broader vision, he noted, is to facilitate affordable, reliable and instant financial transactions that connect businesses, entrepreneurs and families beyond national borders.
Ajayi explained that the decision to strengthen the company’s investment in digital financial services was driven by the enormous opportunities within the global cryptocurrency market.
Describing the sector as one of the world’s largest emerging financial sectors. He noted that Nigeria continues to rank among Africa’s leading markets for Bitcoin transactions, making the country well positioned for digital asset innovation.
Over the years, Shawn Exchange has earned the confidence of thousands of users through transparent operations, prompt transaction processing and customer-focused service delivery.
Its commitment to operational excellence received continental recognition in 2022 when it was named Africa’s Most Trusted and Reliable Financial Trading Brand of the Year, an award presented by African Brands during a ceremony aired on TV.
Behind the company’s success lies an entrepreneurial story rooted in resilience and continuous reinvention. Before establishing Shawn Exchange, Ajayi built experience across several business ventures, experiences he said shaped his understanding of entrepreneurship, customer expectations and sustainable growth.
He also attributes much of his entrepreneurial development to studying accomplished business leaders, constantly seeking to understand the principles behind enduring enterprises and adapting those lessons to his own journey.
As demand for digital financial solutions continues to accelerate across Africa, the launch of the ShawnX App represents more than the introduction of another fintech product.
It reflects the growing confidence of indigenous technology companies in building homegrown solutions capable of competing on a global scale.
With a vision centered on innovation, trust and financial inclusion, Shawn Exchange is positioning itself to play a defining role in shaping the future of cryptocurrency adoption and cross-border digital commerce across Africa.
