Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has declared her readiness to prove her sexual harassment allegations against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
She stated this on Friday in Abuja while confirming receipt of a ₦200 billion defamation suit filed against her by the Senate President.
According to her, Akpabio’s lawsuit has now provided the opportunity she was denied by the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges to present her evidence before a court of competent jurisdiction.
In a statement, the Kogi Central senator said the court case “has now provided the platform” she has long awaited. She maintained that she would prove that she was sexually harassed and that her refusal to submit to the alleged advances triggered sustained political attacks against her.
“See you in court, Godswill Akpabio,” she declared.
The Senate President had earlier filed a ₦200 billion defamation suit, accusing Akpoti-Uduaghan of making malicious claims that painted him as a sexual predator.
Documents from the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory show that Akpabio is asking for extensive damages, retractions, and nationwide broadcast apologies, insisting that the allegations gravely injured his reputation and exposed him to public ridicule.
The suit, which contains a detailed Statement of Claim and a list of witnesses, alleges that the senator’s interviews on television, radio, and online platforms portrayed Akpabio as someone who abused his office for personal gratification.
Akpabio argues that millions of Nigerians consumed the content, resulting in backlash he describes as damaging, humiliating, and deeply distressing.
He is seeking an order for the removal of all online materials containing the allegations and a directive compelling the broadcast of apologies across major media outlets for several consecutive days.
A court order issued on 6 November 2025 granted permission for the claimant to serve the court processes on Senator Akpoti through the Clerk of the National Assembly, following unsuccessful attempts at personal service.
