The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has dismissed reports circulating online that his mother died on Monday, describing the claim as false and misleading.
Ribadu addressed the issue in a statement posted on his verified X account on Tuesday, saying he was compelled to respond after receiving numerous calls and messages from sympathisers.
The reports had claimed that “Mamma Ribadu,” described as a respected matriarch and mother of the NSA and the Emir of Fufore, Sani Ribadu, passed away at the age of 86.
“I have been inundated with calls and messages from friends and associates following an inaccurate online publication claiming that my mother passed away on Monday, 19 January 2026,” Ribadu said.
While appreciating the concern shown by well-wishers, the NSA clarified that the report was entirely incorrect, noting that his mother died 28 years ago.
“The publication is false and misleading. My mother of blessed memory passed away 28 years ago and therefore could not have died on Monday,” he stated.
Ribadu explained that the individual who died on Monday was Hajja Mamma Sulaiman Ribadu, the wife of his late uncle.
He offered prayers for the deceased and expressed gratitude to those who supported his family during the bereavement, asking that their kindness be rewarded.
