Comedienne and actress Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess, has called on the Lagos State Government and Ministry of Justice to add Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, widely known as Baba Ijesha, to the state’s sex offenders register.
Princess made the appeal during a live Instagram session on Saturday, November 15, 2025, following news of the actor’s release from prison. She urged authorities to “publish his name in the sex offenders register” and said she would be awaiting feedback from the government on the matter.
Addressing online speculation that Baba Ijesha had been pardoned, Princess clarified that he had simply completed the term referenced in recent court rulings. “No matter how much it hurt me, I have not hoarded any information,” she said, emphasizing that his release followed due judicial process.
Prior to the live session, Princess posted a short advocacy video highlighting child protection. In the video, she said:
“My name is Princess, and I believe children should be loved, protected and provided for. If you know any child who has been abused mentally, physically or sexually, please send a message to the Princess Damilola Foundation on Instagram.”
Baba Ijesha’s release comes after a Court of Appeal decision that reviewed his previous conviction. The details of the judgment were still generating public discussion over the weekend. Actor Yomi Fabiyi had earlier announced the development on social media, celebrating the court’s decision and describing Baba Ijesha as “officially free,” though specifics of the ruling were not immediately made public.
A short video circulated online on Saturday appeared to show Baba Ijesha seated in a vehicle, speaking briefly after regaining his freedom, though the footage could not be independently verified.
The controversy surrounding Baba Ijesha dates back to 2021 when Princess accused him of inappropriate conduct involving her foster child. The case generated nationwide attention, leading to an initial conviction in 2022 .
