The Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Lagos, has unveiled an additional operational vehicle donated by a stakeholder, in a move aimed at strengthening its capacity to combat economic and financial crimes.
The Commissioner of Police, PSFU, CP Eloho Edwin Okpoziakpo, described the donation as a strong demonstration of growing collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and public-spirited individuals committed to safeguarding the nation’s financial system.
According to him, the gesture reflects the confidence stakeholders have in the Unit and highlights the positive impact of community-driven support in enhancing policing effectiveness.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Okpoziakpo said the new vehicle would significantly improve the Unit’s operational efficiency by boosting the mobility of detectives and supporting intelligence-led investigations across the country.
He noted that the development aligns with the strategic vision of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen policing through improved logistics, stakeholder collaboration, and enhanced service delivery.
The Commissioner emphasised that tackling fraud and other financial crimes requires collective effort, urging well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organisations, and development partners to continue supporting the police with resources and credible information.
In his closing remarks, Okpoziakpo charged officers of the Unit to ensure the responsible and professional use of all operational assets, while upholding the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and discipline.
He warned that any form of misconduct or misuse of resources would not be tolerated.
Reaffirming the Unit’s commitment, he stated that the PSFU will continue to combat fraud, money laundering, and other financial crimes through intelligence-led policing, while working closely with stakeholders and law-abiding citizens to protect Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.
