President Bola Tinubu has approved three new appointments across federal establishments, bringing in former lawmakers to lead key positions in the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) and the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).
The development was made public in a statement released on Friday evening, June 26, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, with all postings taking immediate effect.
Under the new directives, Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas has been designated as the new Director General of the Border Communities Development Agency.
Namdas, a seasoned journalist and public relations expert, previously served as the Chief Press Secretary to the former Governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna. He was also a member of the 8th House of Representatives where he served as the chamber’s official spokesperson. The presidency noted that the incoming head takes over from the previous director general, who vacated the office to run for a political seat.
“Dr Namdas replaces Dr Dakorinama Alabo George, who resigned to contest for an elective post in his home state,” the statement stated.
The remaining changes took place within the leadership team of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company. President Tinubu appointed Patrick Obahiagbon as the Executive Director of Strategy and Commercial for the energy firm.
Obahiagbon, who has experience serving in both the Edo State House of Assembly and the National Assembly, steps into the role following a leadership vacancy.
“Obahiagbon replaces Engineer Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who resigned from his position as Executive Director, Strategy & Commercial, to pursue his political aspiration in his home state,” the statement explained.
Alongside the appointment, the president also reappointed Chukwuma Umeoji to return to his previous role as the Executive Director of Corporate Services at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company.
Umeoji represented the Aguata Federal Constituency of Anambra State during the 9th National Assembly and is making a return to the corporation after initially stepping down from the agency to chase a political ambition.
