The Presidency has denied reports circulating on social media alleging that kitchen staff at the presidential villa attempted to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The special adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, dismissed the claims on Sunday, describing the report as false and misleading.
The viral video claimed that a presidential chef had been arrested over an alleged poisoning plot, suggesting that security agencies launched an investigation after intelligence reports indicated suspicious activities within areas linked to presidential food preparation.
According to the video, the alleged suspect was taken into custody following what it described as a coordinated security operation aimed at preventing a potential threat to the President.
However, Onanuga rejected the claims, insisting that no such incident occurred at the Presidential Villa.
He said, “no Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by this video.”
The Presidency urged the public to disregard the video and other related claims, stressing that the report was entirely fabricated.
Authorities have yet to provide details on the origin of the viral video or those responsible for circulating the false information.
