Olohundare Jimoh, the Lagos State police commissioner, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to investigate multiple sexual misconduct allegations against Chris Okafor.
The directive follows growing public outrage over viral claims circulating on social media in recent days.
On New Year’s Day, Okafor, senior pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, stepped down from his pastoral duties as several women, including Doris Ogala, nollywood actress, came forward with varied allegations against him.
Last Sunday, the cleric apologised to Ogala during a church service, kneeling on the pulpit to admit past “mistakes” and seek forgiveness.
The controversy comes shortly after his wedding to a new bride, identified only as Pearl, on December 16, 2025, which was attended by notable clerics.
Abimbola Adebisi, spokesperson for Lagos State Police Command, said the police had not previously arrested Okafor because no formal petition had been filed by the alleged victims.
Adebisi stated that Jimoh had ordered the SCID to invite the pastor for questioning and summon the alleged victims for interviews.
“The CP has directed the SCID to invite the pastor for investigation, despite the fact that no one has formally come forward to report,” Adebisi said.
She added that Jimoh also instructed that witnesses be brought forward to provide statements to assist the investigation.
Adebisi further revealed that she personally contacted a YouTuber who had interviewed the alleged victims to obtain direct links to witnesses.
The allegations began on December 14, when Ogala posted emotional videos on her Instagram page, claiming a sexual relationship with the pastor that began in 2017 and lasted nine years.
In the videos, Ogala said Okafor repeatedly promised marriage before marrying another woman in December 2025.
She also alleged that the cleric shared her explicit photos and videos, contributed to the breakdown of her previous marriage, and caused emotional distress and financial loss.
Ogala presented bedroom photos, screenshots of conversations, and videos claiming the pastor sent her $10,000 to retract her statements and falsely accuse a rival pastor.
She later demanded N1bn in damages through a legal notice, alleging threats and intimidation following her arrest and detention.
As the scandal intensified, other women also accused Okafor of sexual misconduct, manipulation, and infidelity.
Bessem Okafor, his former wife, cited infidelity, deception, and physical assault.
