Police debunk attack on DIG Frank Mbah’s country home

The Enugu State Police Command has debunked a viral social media report claiming that the country home of Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Frank Mba, was attacked.

In a statement issued Sunday night and signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the police described the report as false.

According to the PPRO, on September 18, 2025, officers responded to a distress call and foiled an armed robbery attempt in Ezimo, DIG Mba’s hometown.

“During the shootout, a police officer sustained gunshot injuries and later died in the hospital,” the statement confirmed.

The police further disclosed that one male suspect was arrested and is currently assisting in an ongoing discreet investigation and a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.

The statement also quoted the Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, as saying: “The command remains unwavering in its commitment to combating violent crimes in Enugu State,” while urging operatives to “sustain the lead already established towards apprehending the suspects.”

The Command called on the public to disregard the false information circulating online and recognize the efforts of the police in maintaining law and order across the state.
