In a condemnable twist of events, the senator representing the Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, has called on his followers in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to kill supporters of the opposition while criticising the Accord Party in Ilesa, Osun State.
He made the call while addressing some of his supporters and APC members in Ilesa on Tuesday, which was captured live on video footage.
Speaking in Yoruba, Fadahunsi, one of the top campaigners for the APC candidate in the August 15, 2026, governorship poll, Bola Oyebamiji, dared the people at the gathering to video-record him and share it on social media.
He said, “If you see any of them from now on to the day of the election, kill them.”
The 2026 Osun State governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, 2026, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The election was initially scheduled for August 8 but was subsequently rescheduled to August 15.
As the poll approaches, political parties and candidates are intensifying their campaigns across the state, with voters expected to elect the governor who will lead Osun State for the next four years. INEC says it is logistically, technically and operationally prepared for the election, with 2,339,233 registered voters across the state’s 30 local government areas and 3,763 polling units.
