The National Youth Service Corps has warned foreign-trained Nigerian graduates seeking mobilisation for the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I service year that they will not be deployed unless they complete the mandatory physical verification of their academic credentials and travel documents.
The Scheme said the verification exercise would hold from Tuesday, September 8 to Saturday, September 12, 2026, at nine designated centres across the country.
According to the NYSC, the exercise is specifically for foreign-trained Nigerian prospective corps members whose credentials and travel documents have not yet undergone physical verification.
The Scheme explained that the exercise forms part of measures to authenticate documents presented by graduates who studied outside Nigeria before any decision is taken on their deployment, exemption or exclusion from national service.
“Only persons physically seen with credentials, physically verified and cleared would be deployed, exempted or excluded from national service,” the NYSC stated.
The nine verification centres are the NYSC Secretariat, 2 Abakaliki Road, GRA, Enugu, Enugu State; Shadawanka Military Barracks, Bauchi; NYSC Orientation Camp, Kubwa, Abuja; Bukavu Military Barracks, Fagge, Airport Road, Kano; and the NYSC Orientation Camp, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos.
Others are the NYSC Secretariat, New Ikirun Road, Osogbo, Osun State; NYSC Secretariat, 40 Ikwerre Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State; Eagle Officers’ Mess, Giginya Cantonment, Gusau Road, Sokoto; and the NYSC Secretariat, Federal Secretariat Complex, Yola, Adamawa State.
Prospective corps members were directed to report strictly on the date, time and venue stated on their verification slips.
The Scheme said the arrangement was intended to maintain order and prevent overcrowding at the verification centres.
NYSC also directed all affected foreign-trained graduates to present the original copies of the academic credentials and travel documents uploaded, or expected to be uploaded, during the online registration process.
Foreign-trained medical graduates face additional documentation requirements.
According to the Scheme, medical graduates must upload their professional licences, registration certificates and other relevant documents issued by their respective professional regulatory bodies.
Prospective corps members whose qualifications require evaluation by the Federal Ministry of Education were also directed to submit the original copies of their evaluation letters to the NYSC Headquarters in Abuja.
