Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the State of Qatar, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, on Thursday presented his Letters of Credence to the Amir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, at the Amiri Diwan in Doha.
The ceremony, held on July 2, 2026, was conducted with full diplomatic honours, including the inspection of the Guard of Honour. Ambassador Yakubu was accompanied by senior officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar.
Following the presentation, Ambassador Yakubu held a private audience with the Amir. He was received cordially and both sides reaffirmed the enduring bilateral ties between Nigeria and Qatar.
The Amir referenced previous high-level diplomatic exchanges and emphasized Qatar’s intent to deepen cooperation with Nigeria.
Ambassador Yakubu conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Amir and people of Qatar. He reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The Ambassador also used the occasion to condole with the Amir over the recent accident at the Ras Laffan Industrial City. He stressed the need to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, education, security and humanitarian affairs.
