KeepLoss reports that the proposed legislation seeks to amend relevant provisions of the 1999 Constitution to create a legal framework for the establishment of state police across the federation.

The move follows repeated calls by the President for constitutional reforms that would enable states to play a more active role in securing their territories.

In February, Tinubu urged the National Assembly to amend the Constitution to accommodate state police, describing the proposal as necessary to tackle terrorism, banditry and other security threats confronting the country.

During his Democracy Day address earlier this month, the President reiterated his administration’s resolve to tackle insecurity and warned that terrorists, bandits and their sponsors would face the full weight of the law.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has refused an application by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, seeking a variation of the bail conditions earlier imposed on him.

KeepLoss reports that Justice Joyce Abdulmalik dismissed the request on Tuesday while ruling on an application filed by the former governor.

El-Rufai, through his counsel, Paul Erokoro (SAN), had urged the court to review some of the bail conditions, describing them as harsh, stringent and difficult to fulfil.

The senior advocate argued that the requirements for sureties, including Level 17 civil servants with properties in Maitama or Asokoro, as well as verification and attestation letters from the Kaduna State Traditional Council, were onerous.

However, counsel for the Department of State Services, Oluwole Aladedoye (SAN), opposed the application, insisting that qualified public officers who met the conditions were available.

In her ruling, Justice Abdulmalik held that the conditions were not impossible to meet and declined to vary them.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has directed all officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force to desist from unauthorised social media activities capable of undermining the integrity, professionalism, and public image of the Force.

According to a statement on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okonkon Edem Iniedu, the directive follows growing concerns over the increasing trend of police personnel creating and publishing videos, conducting live sessions, and engaging in other social media activities while in uniform or in circumstances that identify them as members of the Nigeria Police Force without official authorisation.

KeepLoss reports that the IGP emphasized that while social media remains an important tool for communication and public engagement, its use by serving officers must be guided by extant laws, regulations, and the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy.

He noted that officers are prohibited from creating or sharing unauthorised content in police uniform, commenting publicly on official police matters, disclosing sensitive operational information, or using their status as police officers for personal promotion, entertainment, or commercial gain.

The United States (US) has designated a Nigerian national and other individuals and entities across Europe, the Middle East and West Africa as alleged financial facilitators linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

KeepLoss s reports that the action was announced in a statement dated Monday, June 22 and signed by the spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, Thomas Pigott.

According to the statement, three individuals and six entities were targeted for allegedly helping ISIS move funds for its global operations.

Pigott said the action was part of Washington’s efforts to disrupt ISIS financing networks.

The U.S. said the latest designations covered France, Syria, Türkiye and Nigeria, describing the network as one used to move money across borders.

5. Some Lawmakers Never Raise Their Hands In The National Assembly, But Win Elections – Saraki

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has urged Nigerians to demand better representation from all elected officials, not just the President.

Speaking particularly about legislators, Saraki charged the citizens to watch and ask for feedback from their elected representatives.

According to him, if citizens ask for legislative records, the National Assembly will get better because the lawmakers will be on their toes.

The former Governor of Kwara State, who spoke during an interview with Vanguard, lamented that some lawmakers don’t make contributions to debates during plenary in the National Assembly, but still win elections every four years.

KeepLoss reports that Saraki also called for electoral reforms to ensure the right people are elected, which in turn contributes to building a strong institution.

6. Police Deny Reports Of Terrorists Transferring Kidnapped Oyo Pupils, Teachers To Kaduna

The Oyo State Police Command has debunked a social media claim alleging that schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Orire Local Government Area were transported to Kaduna State by helicopter.

KeepLoss reports that the command described the report as false, misleading and unverified.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the command was aware of a video circulating online claiming that the abducted victims from Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities had been moved out of Oyo State.

Ayanlade said security agencies had intensified efforts to rescue the abducted pupils and teachers.

The command warned against the spread of false information capable of creating panic or obstructing security operations.

Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has revealed that she keeps financial matters private in her relationships and does not believe couples must disclose their earnings to each other.

Speaking during an appearance on a podcast with media personality Prince Ita, the actress said discussions about personal income are completely off the table for her.

According to her, she has no interest in telling a partner how much she earns and also does not expect him to reveal his own income to her.

KeepLoss  reports that Isime explained that she values privacy and believes some personal matters should remain within individual boundaries.

She said knowing how much a partner makes is not something she considers necessary in a relationship, just as she does not see any reason to share details of her own earnings.

8. I Thought I’d Be Married By 30 Because I Had Many Suitors – Ashmusy

Nigerian influencer Amarachi Amusi, popularly known as Ashmusy, has spoken on the pressure she faced after turning 30 without getting married or having children.

Speaking during an appearance on BBC Africa’s podcast The Conversation, the social media personality shared her thoughts on relationships, family expectations, and the reasons behind her decision to freeze her eggs.

KeepLoss reports that Ashmusy revealed that while growing up, she believed she would already be married with children by the age of 30.

According to her, she had many admirers and expected that settling down would happen naturally before reaching that age. However, life did not unfold the way she had imagined.

She said becoming a mother had always been one of her biggest dreams, especially during her twenties when she pictured herself building a family much earlier.

9. NSC Confirms New Deal For Eric Chelle

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, has confirmed that Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle will remain in charge of Nigeria’s senior national team after reaching an agreement on a new contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Dikko also disclosed that the Franco-Malian tactician has been handed additional responsibility for the country’s U-23 national team as part of long-term plans to strengthen the football development pathway.

The development was announced on Tuesday following a meeting between officials of the National Sports Commission and the Nigeria Football Federation in Abuja.

Chelle’s current two-year contract is due to expire at the end of 2026, but discussions over an improved deal have been ongoing for months following Nigeria’s impressive campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Super Eagles finished third.

The coach was reported to have requested a monthly salary package of $130,000, which would cover both his remuneration and that of his assistants, among other conditions.

Providing an update after the meeting, Dikko said both parties had successfully reached an agreement on fresh terms.

10. Super Falcons’ Ashleigh Plumptre Denies Bribery Claims Against NFF

Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has dismissed claims that she accused officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) of demanding bribes, insisting the allegations originated from a fake Facebook account impersonating her.

The controversy erupted after a Facebook page bearing Plumptre’s name claimed she had been left out of Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) because she allegedly refused to comply with demands made by some “corrupt officials.”

... further alleged that the defender was considering taking a “step back” from international football due to the supposed bribery requests.

The claims spread rapidly across social media, sparking widespread reactions and debate among football fans. Despite growing doubts over its authenticity, the Facebook account, which appears verified and has more than 2,000 followers, continued to attract engagement.

Plumptre moved swiftly to distance herself from the allegations earlier today, June 23, making it clear that the Facebook page was not hers.

Using her verified Instagram account, which boasts more than 130,000 followers, the 28-year-old urged supporters to help tackle the impersonation.
