Popular Nigerian political singer Muhammadu Buhari, widely known as Kosan Waka, has died at the age of 47.
The singer passed away on Sunday, with members of his family confirming that he would be laid to rest later the same day in Tsanni Village, Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to the family, his burial was scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
Reacting to the development, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over the singer’s passing.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor extended his condolences to the deceased’s mother, family members, friends, associates, admirers and the people of Kano State.
Governor Yusuf described the late entertainer as a patriotic son of Katsina whose music resonated across political divides and played a significant role in promoting unity, culture and public enlightenment.
He noted that Kosan Waka’s songs left a lasting impact on political communication and the Hausa entertainment industry.

The governor prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the late singer’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
Kosan Waka rose to prominence through his political songs and performances, earning widespread recognition across northern Nigeria for using music to engage audiences on political and social issues.
His death has drawn tributes from political leaders, entertainers and supporters, many of whom described his contributions to Hausa music and political advocacy as enduring.
