NGX Group Posts N10.36 Billion H1 Profit as Revenue Soars 118%

Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group) delivered a strong financial performance in the first half (H1) of 2026, reporting a profit after tax of N10.36 billion, a 145.6 percent increase from N4.22 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.

The Group’s unaudited financial statements for the six months ended June 30, 2026 showed that revenue more than doubled to N17.60 billion, compared with N8.08 billion in the same period last year.

This represents a 117.9 percent year-on-year increase.

The strong revenue growth underscores increased business activity across the Group’s operations during the period.

Total income rose to N19.34 billion, up from N9.86 billion in the first half of 2025 as higher revenue remained the primary driver of earnings despite relatively stable other income.

While operating expenses increased to N8.72 billion from N5.70 billion, the 53 percent growth in costs was significantly lower than the pace of revenue expansion, allowing the Group to strengthen its operating performance.

As a result, operating profit climbed by 155.2 percent to N10.62 billion, compared with N4.16 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The improvement reflects stronger operating leverage as revenue growth outpaced increases in personnel and other operating expenses.

Another notable contributor to earnings was the Group’s share of profit from equity-accounted investees, which increased to N4.14 billion, up from N1.80 billion a year earlier.

At the same time, the absence of finance costs during the reporting period, compared with N501.97 million recorded in the first half of 2025, further supported profitability.

Consequently, profit before tax surged 170.2 percent to N14.76 billion, compared with N5.46 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.

Income tax expense rose to N4.40 billion, reflecting the Group’s stronger earnings performance. Nevertheless, profit after tax expanded significantly to N10.36 billion.

Although the Group recorded an other comprehensive loss of N657.97 million during the period, total comprehensive income still increased substantially to N9.70 billion, compared with N4.22 billion reported in the first half of 2025.
