Diddy’s projected release from federal prison has taken another unexpected turn after officials updated his release date for the latest time.
The revised timeline comes only days after the disgraced music mogul appeared to receive an earlier release, adding another twist to a sentence that has already been adjusted several times.
The newest change also arrives in the wake of reports that Diddy was involved in a prison fight that allegedly resulted in him being placed in solitary confinement.
Just when it appeared Diddy’s projected release had been shortened once again, the timeline shifted in the opposite direction.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons now lists February 20, 2028, as the projected release date for the Bad Boy Records founder, who is serving his sentence at New Jersey’s Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix.
The revision comes shortly after prison records reflected a release date of January 24, 2028, making the latest update an unexpected reversal.
Federal officials have not explained what prompted the change. When asked about the repeated revisions, a Bureau of Prisons spokesperson declined to elaborate.
“For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, including release plans or specifics regarding why a release date changes,” they told the Daily Mail.
Diddy’s Sentence Has Rarely Stayed The Same
The newest update continues a pattern that has followed Diddy’s sentence since his October 2025 conviction.
Although he was acquitted of the sex trafficking and racketeering charges, he was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and sentenced to 50 months in federal prison.
His original projected release date was May 8, 2028, but that timeline changed after allegations surfaced that he consumed moonshine and participated in an unauthorized three-way phone call while incarcerated.
His attorney denied those allegations, yet the projected release was pushed to June 4, 2028. Months later, the 56-year-old benefited from a sentence reduction under the FIRST STEP Act, the criminal justice reform law signed during Donald Trump’s first administration and publicly championed by Kim Kardashian.
Since then, the projected release has repeatedly shifted, from April 25 to April 15, then to February 23, followed by January 24, before now settling, at least for the moment, on February 20, 2028.
Reported Prison Fight Adds More Questions To The Latest Update
The newest change also follows reports of an alleged altercation involving Diddy inside Fort Dix.
As The Blast shared last month, the confrontation reportedly began after another inmate insulted the music mogul before the disagreement escalated into a physical fight.
According to the report, the exchange progressed from shoving to punches before correctional officers intervened.
It was alleged that Diddy “held his own” during the confrontation before guards separated the inmates. Following the reported fight, the disgraced rapper was placed in solitary confinement.
Media outlets reached out to FCI Ford Dix for more details about the incident but a spokesperson declined to share information.
“We are not at liberty to disclose or provide internal information pertaining to any inmate in our custody. Such information would not be available for the public domain,” they revealed.
Diddy Scores One Court Victory As Other Civil Cases Continue
Even as Diddy’s projected prison release date continues to shift, his legal battles outside prison remain just as active.
In June, Associated Press reported that Diddy secured a significant victory in one of the dozens of civil cases filed against him after a federal judge dismissed the lawsuit brought by former Danity Kane and Diddy–Dirty Money member Dawn Richard.
Judge Katherine Polk Failla ruled that 17 of Richard’s 18 claims were filed well beyond New York’s statute of limitations, noting the alleged conduct ended in 2011 or 2012.
However, the court dismissed her remaining claim under New York City’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law without prejudice, allowing her to pursue it in state court if she chooses.
Importantly, the judge stressed the ruling was based on legal deadlines, not the credibility of the allegations, writing that, “if true,” the alleged conduct would be “execrable.”
Richard’s attorney vowed to continue the case in state court, while Combs’ legal team welcomed the ruling.
Decades-Old MTV Clip Puts Diddy Back Under The Microscope
A few days later, a 2003 MTV Movie Awards clip featuring Diddy and then-12-year-old actress Daveigh Chase went viral again following Chase’s death at 35, prompting renewed debate online.
As The Blast reported, the backstage footage featured Diddy who was 33 at the time, approaching the young “The Ring” star with a drink in hand and asking, “You coming to the after-party tonight?”
Chase appeared to nod before Diddy laughed and replied, “Yeah!” The interaction occurred shortly after Diddy and Ashton Kutcher presented Chase with the Best Villain award.
Although the clip had resurfaced previously, it attracted fresh attention in light of Diddy’s legal controversies, with social media users describing the exchange as “absolutely weird” and questioning why no one intervened at the time.
