The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Nigeria‘s economic transformation agenda by re-electing seven directors and ratifying the appointments of three new board members at its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The hybrid meeting, held recently at the NESG Summit House in Lagos and virtually, reviewed the organisation’s activities and financial performance for the year ended December 31, 2025. It was attended by members of the Board of Directors, auditors, company secretaries, and other key stakeholders.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the NESG Board of Directors, Mr Niyi Yusuf, commended the board, management, and members for their dedication to promoting national development despite prevailing economic and policy challenges.
He urged stakeholders to remain committed to the group’s mission of driving sustainable development through evidence-based policy advocacy and constructive public-private dialogue.
A major highlight of the AGM was the presentation and adoption of the Audited Financial Statements, alongside the Reports of the Directors and Independent Auditors for the 2025 financial year.
Members also approved the reappointment of PKF Professional Services as the organisation’s external auditors for the new financial year and authorised the Board of Directors to determine the auditors’ remuneration.
The AGM also addressed changes in the composition of the Board, acknowledging the retirement of Mrs Wonu Adetayo and Mr Frank Aigbogun, who did not seek re-election after more than 15 years of service to the organisation. Members paid tribute to the duo for their outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the NESG.
The meeting subsequently approved the re-election of Dr Philip Mshelbila, Dr Juliet Ehimuan, Mr Wasim El-Husseini, Mr Segun Ogunsanya, Mr Mohamad Darwish, Mr Demola Sogunle, and Mr Abubakar Suleiman to continue serving on the Board.
In addition, members ratified the appointments of Dr Owen Omogiafo, Mr Rohan D’Souza, and Ms Surrayah Ahmad, who had earlier been appointed by the Board to fill existing vacancies.
The organisation said the re-election and ratification of the directors would further strengthen the Board by bringing together accomplished leaders from diverse sectors, reinforcing the NESG’s commitment to sound corporate governance, strategic leadership, and multidisciplinary expertise.
The AGM ended with a renewed commitment by the Board, management, and members to deepen collaboration with both the public and private sectors in delivering evidence-based policy recommendations, promoting reforms, and strengthening public-private dialogue.
The NESG reaffirmed its resolve to champion innovative policy solutions and strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s competitiveness, economic resilience, inclusive growth, and sustainable national development.
