Some beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 support programme under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) have raised concerns over difficulties accessing or transferring funds received through NairaGram.
The complaints were contained in an appeal calling on NairaGram management and relevant government authorities to address problems reportedly experienced by some users of the payment platform.
According to the complaints, some recipients have experienced unsuccessful transactions, while others say their transfers have remained pending for several days without receiving confirmation or transaction alerts. These experiences have reportedly left beneficiaries and intended recipients uncertain about the status of their money.
The ₦50,000 intervention was introduced to provide financial relief to poor and vulnerable Nigerian households. However, some beneficiaries say the reported difficulties have made it harder for them to access and use the support.
The complainants are asking NairaGram management to investigate reports of pending and unsuccessful transactions, confirm the status of affected funds and complete outstanding transfers or process appropriate reversals where necessary.
They have also requested clearer communication about the reported difficulties and an effective customer support system through which affected users can seek assistance.
The appeal further calls on the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction and other agencies overseeing NERSI to look into the complaints and engage the payment provider where necessary.
The concerns relate to reported experiences involving some users and do not establish that all NairaGram beneficiaries are experiencing the same difficulties.
What affected beneficiaries want
The complainants want NairaGram to investigate the reported transaction problems, provide clear explanations, resolve outstanding transfers and ensure affected customers can access their funds. They are also asking relevant government authorities to examine the complaints and help secure a lasting solution.
