The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed ₦1,025,200 to eight students of the University of Education and Entrepreneurship (UEE), Akamkpa, for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The payment forms part of the third batch of the Fund’s Students’ Loan Programme, aimed at supporting access to higher education for Nigerian students.
In a statement on its official X handle on Thursday, NELFUND said the disbursement reflects its commitment to ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder students’ academic pursuits.
The University of Education and Entrepreneurship acknowledged receipt of the funds in a letter dated January 30, signed by Dr. Eyo Ekpe. The payment was received on January 20, 2026.
The letter stated, “We acknowledge the receipt of the sum of One Million and twenty-five thousand, two hundred naira (₦1,025,200.00) as the third batch disbursement for eight students of UEE, Akamkpa. The amount is well appreciated.”
NELFUND recently extended the application window for its student loan portal for the 2025/2026 academic session. The extension applied only to institutions that formally requested additional time to allow eligible students to complete their applications.
The Managing Director and CEO of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, said the extension underscores the agency’s commitment to ensuring that qualified Nigerian students can access the loan scheme.
The Fund continues to play a key role in supporting tertiary education across Nigeria by providing financial assistance to students who might otherwise be unable to afford tuition and related expenses.
This latest disbursement is part of NELFUND’s ongoing efforts to expand the reach of its student loan programme and enhance educational opportunities nationwide.
