NDLEA topshot found dead in Calabar hotel

Morrison Ogbonna, the Cross River State commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), was on Thursday morning found dead in a hotel in Calabar.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ogbonna’s body was found by his officers, who had gone to pick him up for a scheduled assignment.

A source who pleaded anonymity said, “This is what happened this morning. Some officers were in the hotel where he slept to pick him up, but when they didn’t hear from him they went to his room.

“It was upon knocking without success that they drew the attention of the hotel management that opened his room and found him dead.”

According to the source, Ogbonna was posted to Cross River in August to replace Rachel Umebuali.

The police in Cross River have since confirmed the incident.
