NDLEA Arrests 19 Suspected Drug Dealers in Gezawa, Kano During Ramadan Operation

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Strategic Command, has arrested 19 suspected drug dealers and users during a raid on drug joints in Gezawa Local Government Area. The operation, conducted under the code-name “Operation Ramadan Mubarak,” targeted identified locations based on credible community intelligence.

During the raid, authorities seized large quantities of illicit substances, including cannabis sativa, diazepam, Exol-5, pregabalin tablets, rubber solution, and a street drug popularly known as ‘Suck and Die’. The swift action of the operatives disrupted a network of drug peddlers operating within the Gezawa community.

NDLEA Kano Command spokesperson Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari said the operation was led by Kano Strategic Command Commander CN DY Lawal, emphasizing that the agency’s objective is to ensure public safety and maintain peaceful communities during the Ramadan period.

Commander Lawal warned that the agency would continue to clamp down on drug trafficking and abuse, noting that such activities pose serious threats to public health and community security. He commended residents who provide timely information, describing community cooperation as vital in the fight against illicit drugs.

The operation aligns with directives from NDLEA Chairman and CEO Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, who has mandated intensified efforts to curb drug trafficking nationwide. The command urged the public to report suspicious activities to assist in safeguarding communities, particularly during Ramadan.
