The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Military Training Centre (MTC), Kaduna, on 29 August 2026, subjected 816 recruits of Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 46/2025 to a rigorous 10KM Inter-Squadron Run Competition.
The exercise brought together recruits from Alpha-Jet, ATR-42, C-130 and MI-35 Squadrons, pushing them through a demanding test of stamina, discipline and determination, while reinforcing the team spirit and mindset of moving together and leaving no one behind, qualities essential to personnel supporting NAF’s counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.
Beyond the race, the demanding exercise provided a practical test of the recruits’ physical fitness, endurance and mental resilience.
Speaking before the event, the Commandant, MTC, Air Commodore AO Akins, urged participants to give their best, noting that such activities strengthen their physical and mental development while preparing them for the rigours of military service and operational responsibilities.
At the finish, C-130 Squadron emerged champion with 2,205 points, followed by ATR-42, MI-35 and Alpha-Jet Squadrons.
The Commandant presented the championship trophy to the victorious squadron, as the exercise further advanced the recruits’ preparation for the Camp Initial Exercise and forthcoming Cross-Country Competition, reinforcing the NAF’s commitment to developing physically fit, resilient, cohesive and operationally ready personnel.
