“Leave Us Homeless No More” — Oworonshoki Residents Block Third Mainland Bridge In Demolition Protest

Traffic on the Third Mainland Bridge was brought to a standstill on Monday morning after residents of Oworonshoki staged a protest, blocking the inward lane leading into the community.

The demonstrators, many of whom claimed their homes were demolished without prior notice or compensation, accused the Lagos State Government (LASG) of leaving families homeless. Carrying placards, they demanded accountability and immediate government intervention.

The protest, which began at dawn, caused severe congestion on one of Lagos’ busiest bridges, forcing commuters to seek alternative routes into the Mainland.

Security personnel were later deployed to restore order and clear the road, allowing traffic to resume.

As of press time, the Lagos State Government had yet to comment on the demolition exercise or the ongoing protest.
