The Lagos State Government has urged residents to report online vendors who deliver products that differ from what customers ordered or fail to meet advertised quality standards.
The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) gave the advice on Monday, October 26, encouraging consumers to seek redress when sellers fail to deliver as promised.
In a consumer awareness message shared on X, the agency warned buyers against remaining silent when they receive incorrect, misrepresented or substandard goods after making online purchases.
LASCOPA stressed that products ordered online should match the descriptions and specifications provided by vendors before payment.
“Goods or products you order online should be delivered as promised,” the agency stated.
It added that consumers should take action if delivered items differ from their orders or fail to meet the expected quality.
“If the items delivered do not match their descriptions, are different from what you ordered, or fail to meet the expected quality, do not keep silent!” the agency advised.
The consumer protection agency urged affected buyers to file formal complaints to enable investigations and possible redress.
“Speak up and take action,” it added.
LASCOPA also provided contact channels for consumers seeking assistance over unsatisfactory online purchases.

Residents can reach the agency through its toll-free helpline, 080 0005 2726, or send complaints to [email protected].
The advisory comes as online shopping continues to provide consumers with access to a wide range of products, with purchases often based on sellers’ descriptions, photographs and advertised claims.
However, buyers may encounter problems when delivered goods do not match their orders or meet the quality standards advertised. Resolving such disputes can also become difficult when vendors refuse to offer refunds, replacements or other remedies.
The agency’s message encourages consumers affected by such transactions to report their complaints rather than accept unsatisfactory products without seeking a resolution.
