A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after sharing how her cousin, who reportedly bagged A1s in all his WAEC subjects, later scored 85 in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.
The story was shared on X by @kenkenlewu, who revealed that the boy’s impressive WAEC result initially raised suspicion from his father.
‘There’s No Way You Made This Kind of Result’
According to the post, the boy checked his WAEC result and discovered that he had made A1s in all his subjects.
His father, however, questioned how he managed to achieve such an impressive result, insisting that his academic performance did not suggest he could score such grades.
“My cousin checked his WAEC result and made As in all his subjects.
“His dad drove him out and asked how he managed to get such a result.
“He said he had been reading very well.
“‘You’re not that brilliant academically. There’s no way you made this kind of result,’ my uncle said,” the post read.
‘His Mum Had Been Giving Him ₦3,000 Every Day’
The boy reportedly remained quiet for a while before eventually confessing how he had managed to get the impressive WAEC grades.
“The boy kept quiet for a while before he finally confessed.
“His mum had been giving him ₦3,000 every day during the exams to pay for expo,” the lady wrote.
“Expo” is a Nigerian slang commonly used to refer to unauthorised assistance or leaked answers during examinations.
Father Wants Him to Rewrite WAEC
Following the confession, the boy’s father reportedly decided that he should retake the examination.
“My uncle said he would have to rewrite the WAEC,” the post stated.
However, his mother reportedly disagreed with the decision.
“His mum refused. She said that wouldn’t be possible.
“She picked a JAMB form for him instead,” the post read.
‘He Scored 85’
The story took another twist when the boy reportedly sat for JAMB and scored 85.
“He scored 85,” the lady revealed.
