Kwara gov sacks deputy chief of staff, principal private secretary, advisers

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the governor of Kwara state has relieved his deputy chief of staff, principal private secretary, and all political advisers serving in his administration of their appointments as part of a cabinet reshuffle.

The decision, announced on Monday, also affected all special advisers, advisers, senior special advisers in the state government.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Mashood Agboola, the deputy chief press secretary to the governor who described the exercise as a minor cabinet reshuffle aimed at repositioning the administration.

According to the statement, the changes are intended to broaden participation within the ruling party while bringing renewed energy to the delivery of government programmes.

“The decision is meant to extend opportunities to more party members and inject fresh energy into the administration,” the statement said.

Governor AbdulRazaq expressed appreciation to the affected appointees for their contributions to the administration and wished them success in their future endeavours.

He also directed all those affected by the reshuffle to hand over government property in their possession to the office of the secretary to the state government.

The government did not immediately announce replacements for the affected officials, but the latest move is expected to pave the way for fresh appointments as the administration continues its governance agenda.
