Three senior members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State have died, the state government announced on Monday. The late officials are Hon. Onojah James Ignatius, Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman, and Alhaji Alih Atabo.
The announcement was made by Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, in Lokoja. He described the deaths as a profound loss to both the government and the people of Kogi.
Onojah James Ignatius served as Special Adviser to the governor and was a former chairman of Igalamela Local Government Area. Fanwo described him as a seasoned grassroots mobiliser and administrator with a strong commitment to community development.
Jatto Onimisi Suleiman, the governor’s Senior Special Assistant, was praised for his humility, diligence, and dedication to public service, consistently prioritizing the welfare of the people.
Alhaji Alih Atabo, APC Chairman of Anyigba Ward in Dekina Local Government Area, was recognized as a committed party stalwart devoted to the growth and unity of the APC at the ward level.
The commissioner did not provide details on the circumstances of their deaths but conveyed condolences from Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the state government, and the people of Kogi to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.
“We also commiserate with the communities of Igalamela, Okene, and Dekina, and all whose lives were touched by their selfless service,” Fanwo said.
He added that their contributions to the development of Kogi State and the strengthening of the APC would remain an enduring legacy.
The state government reaffirmed its appreciation for the dedication and sacrifice of the three leaders, emphasizing that their service would continue to inspire public and political engagement in the state.
