Kebbi Assembly Speaker Muhammad Usman Zuru Dies in Egyptian Hospital

The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, has died after a brief illness.

Zuru reportedly passed away on Monday night in a hospital in Egypt, where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed medical condition.

Sources close to the Kebbi State Government confirmed the development, although details surrounding the illness were not made public.

Until his death, Zuru represented Zuru Constituency in the state assembly and was considered a prominent figure in the state legislature.

Confirming the incident, the Governor’s aide on Communication and Strategy, Idris Zuru, described the Speaker’s death as a major loss to the state and the country.

“The death of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, came to us as a rude shock. It is a painful loss not only to Kebbi State but to the entire nation,” he said.

He added that the state government was still gathering full details surrounding the circumstances of the Speaker’s death and would issue an official statement in due course, including funeral arrangements in consultation with the family.

Further announcements are expected from the Kebbi State Government and the bereaved family.
