Umar Sani, former Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to ex-Vice President Namadi Sambo, has alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio sometimes receives bills from President Bola Tinubu and gets them approved without proper debate on the floor of the Senate.
Speaking during an interview with Symfoni, Sani said some senators have complained about the process, alleging that Akpabio would receive a bill from the President and return to the Senate with it for immediate approval.
According to Sani, the bill could allegedly be approved on the same day without being debated by senators before it is signed, announced and returned as approved.
In Umar Sani’s words: “Have you not heard senators complain that Akpabio will go to the president and collect a bill and come? On that same day, they will approve it and it will go back, and it is not going to be even debated on the floor of the House. He will just sign it and return it, announce it and return it back as approved.”
