JUST IN: Family confirms death of Uma Ukpai, says preacher died Oct. 6

The family of Reverend Uma Ukpai, a renowned international evangelist has confirmed his passing.

A statement released by the family on Monday said the revered preacher died on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.

Ukpai is the founder and president of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, a non-denominational gospel ministry based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

In the announcement titled “Glorious Transition,” the family described the clergy as “a faithful soldier of the cross who has been called to rest.”

The family noted that Dr. Ukpai dedicated over six decades of his life to fiery evangelism, dynamic teaching, and prophetic demonstrations of God’s power — impacting millions of lives and transforming destinies across Nigeria and around the world.

“With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who passed on to glory on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80,” the statement read.

“He was a spiritual general known for evangelism, a founding father of faith, loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to many. His life was a testament to God’s power and love.

“While we mourn his physical absence, we rejoice that he has finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.

“For decades, he was a towering figure in global evangelism, known for his passionate preaching, healing crusades, and unwavering faith.

“For indeed, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” — Philippians 1:21,” it said.

The statement added that details of his burial arrangements would be announced in due course.
