Activisit Aisha Yesufu has announced her defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Yesufu, who is originally from Edo state, also declared her intention to contest the FCT senatorial seat in the 2027 elections.
The activist-turned-politician announced the move on Wednesday as her declaration is expected to reshape the contest for the FCT senate seat ahead of the elections.
Potential contenders in the race include Senator Ireti Kingibe, incumbent lawmaker representing the FCT, and Philip Aduda, former senator, who is reportedly backed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Yesufu is also believed to enjoy the support of former Anambra state governor, Peter Obi, who recently defected to the NDC.
