ISWAP releases gory images, WhatsApp chats of slain army general

The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has released graphic images of Musa Uba, the brigadier general killed in last week’s ambush, publishing them in Al-Naba, its Arabic-language newspaper.

Uba was killed on November 18 after ISWAP militants attacked a convoy of soldiers and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) operatives along Damboa Road, near Wajiroko in Borno state.

The troops were reportedly transporting military equipment when the terrorists opened fire.

In the edition of Al-Naba reviewed by FIJ, the group displayed censored photos of the brigadier general’s body on the front page. The images showed a bullet wound on his leg and blood around his head.

The publication also included screenshots of Uba’s WhatsApp conversations. According to reports, the material appeared in Issue 522 of Al-Naba, released on Thursday.

The eight-page release chronicles recent violent operations by ISWAP and other Islamic State affiliates across the world.

Meanwhile, the terror group has claimed responsibility for another attack — this time on the Damboa Brigade Headquarters on Tuesday.

ISWAP also circulated images of a beheading carried out in Gorobatcha, Borno.
