Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has announced plans to construct the Nyihemba–Anwase–Abande road to improve access, boost security patrols, and enhance rapid response in the affected communities.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the governor also promised to restore electricity in Anwase, provide potable water in both Nyihemba and Anwase, and deploy additional motorcycles to strengthen security surveillance across the area.
Governor Alia made the commitments during a visit to Turan in Kwande Local Government Area, where he went to assess the situation firsthand following recent attacks on Anwase and Abande communities.
He assured residents that they were not abandoned, stressing that the safety, lives, and dignity of the people remain a top priority of his administration.
The governor further disclosed that arrangements would be made with telecommunications providers to install network boosters to improve communication and emergency alerts when needed.
Condemning the attacks as unprovoked, Alia reaffirmed his determination to intensify collaboration with security agencies through the provision of essential logistics to help restore lasting peace to the troubled areas.
He expressed confidence that relief would come soon, noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been fully briefed on the security challenges and has already directed the deployment of reinforcements.
During the visit, the governor stopped at Nyihemba, where he met with traditional rulers of Kwande Local Government Area led by the Tor Kwande, HRH Ambrose Pine Iortyer, before proceeding to Tomataan and Anwase to address residents, many of whom were directly affected by the attacks.
Governor Alia later addressed the people of Turan at Jato-Aka, where he pledged to restore electricity in the area through the provision of an electrical transformer.
