According to a report by the Nigerian Tribune on Monday, March 9, 2026, a Nigerian man named David Emmanuel Adebayo has recounted how he confronted and defeated armed robbers who attacked him shortly after he withdrew nine million naira from a bank in Minna, Niger State.
Adebayo shared his experience during a church testimony, which has since gone viral on social media.
He stated that the robbery took place just minutes after he left the bank.
Despite having no previous experience with guns, he managed to take a weapon from one of the assailants and even fired at their escape vehicle.
During his testimony, Adebayo mentioned that the incident occurred on a day he was fasting.
He told the congregation that he had gone to the bank to withdraw a significant amount of money and was leaving the area when the robbers attacked.
“On Friday, I went to the bank in Minna to make a withdrawal of nine million naira. So immediately I left the bank, no more than 10 minutes later, armed robbers came to attack me, well armed. So immediately I was about to start, I had already started my car, I just saw two armed men, one on my left, one on my right, they came to attack me,” he said.
Adebayo reported that the robbers successfully took cash from him during the incident.
However, he stated that in the heat of the moment, he felt compelled to fight back.
He described how he suddenly approached one of the robbers and was able to wrest the gun away from the assailant.
He credited this courageous act to divine intervention, sharing with the congregation that he believed God provided him with the bravery and insight to respond.
He also noted that he had never handled or fired a gun before that day, which made the experience even more astonishing for him.
“God granted me the wisdom; I took the gun from an armed robber without any prior experience or training. I was speaking in tongues. I approached their car and fired at the driver, declaring that the vehicle wouldn’t move unless I was not serving the God of my father,” he recounted.
Adebayo mentioned that after the confrontation, the robbers attempted to flee in their own car, but it wouldn’t start.
Faced with this unexpected problem, they abandoned their vehicle and drove off in his car instead.
Although the attackers escaped with the money at that moment, Adebayo later learned that his car had been recovered.
He shared that his wife eventually contacted him with the news that the vehicle had been found abandoned in a bush near Lokoja.See_More…
