The former talk show host was seen walking around New York City on August 19, marking her first reported public appearance since February.
While she was out, a paparazzo asked Wendy if she had anything to say to her fans about what she has been going through.
Wendy responded:
“I want out!”
Her brief statement comes as she remains involved in an ongoing legal battle over the guardianship arrangement that has been in place for several years.
Wendy was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023. Before the diagnosis was made public, she was placed under a conservatorship in May 2022 after Wells Fargo reportedly raised concerns about her wellbeing.
According to reports, the bank sent a letter to a New York Supreme Court judge describing Williams as an “incapacitated person” and requesting a “temporary guardian” to ensure that her affairs were being properly managed.
That same month, Sabrina E. Morrissey, a New York-based attorney, was appointed as Wendy’s legal guardian.
