‘I have been a threat since age 20’ – Sowore alleges government wants him dead

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that his life is in danger, accusing the government of wanting him dead.

Sowore made the allegation on Friday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, while discussing the recent attack on him and members of his team in Ekiti State.

The activist claimed that the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police knew the individuals responsible for the attack.

According to him, the police commissioner visited him and his team while they were receiving medical treatment, but concerns were raised about the identities of the alleged attackers after the visit.

“The Commissioner of Police came to see us while we were being treated so he knew the people who attacked us. When he left, people were saying that you better leave because ‘Oga knows these people,’” Sowore said.

He also cited previous incidents which, according to him, suggested that he had been under surveillance.

Sowore recalled an incident in Port Harcourt, where he claimed a tracking device had been placed under his vehicle and traced to the Department of State Services (DSS).

“Don’t forget that when I went to Port Harcourt, it was the same way that they were tracking me all over, they placed a tracker under my car and it was traced to the DSS, so what are we arguing about? Why do you think they took me to court, and charged me for calling Tinubu a criminal?” he asked.

The AAC candidate further said he had been opposed to successive governments since his youth, describing himself as a longstanding critic of the authorities.

“My life is at stake and I have been a threat to the government since I was 20 years old. I’m opposed to the illegitimacy of the government. Were you not here when Buhari abducted me from a hotel in Lagos? Is it not the same APC government?” he said.

Sowore maintained that the attack in Ekiti was unprovoked and reiterated his claim that the government wanted to kill him.

“The issue is that we were attacked unprovoked in Ekiti State, I have been a threat and they want to kill me,” he added.

The allegations come after Sowore reported that he and members of his team had been attacked by thugs inside a restaurant in Ado-Ekiti.
