A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Fubara Dagogo, has rejected his reported suspension, arguing that the move contradicts the party’s constitutional guidelines.
According to The PUNCH, speaking with a correspondent on Friday, Dagogo stated that those responsible for the alleged suspension had not made any direct contact with him. He also warned against actions that could undermine the party’s established rules and procedures.
“I do not think they are talking to me; they are not. But whoever they are talking to, I advise those who want to take such action, as someone who has been in the party and a legacy founding member of the All Progressives Congress, to look into the constitution.
“They should also consider the principles guiding the convention so that it does not invalidate whatever exercise they have carried out on that person,” he said.
Despite the development, Dagogo reaffirmed his allegiance to both the APC and President Bola Tinubu, noting that he remains actively involved in consultations with influential figures across the party’s legacy blocs.
He added that at the moment, he was engaging key stakeholders from the CPC, the ACN, and the ANPP—groups that formed the foundation of the All Progressives Congress—and was encouraging delegates who attended the national convention to give their full support to the party, describing it as their home.
His response comes after the leadership of Ward 4, New Layout in Bonny Local Government Area accused him of anti-party conduct and announced his suspension. The decision was outlined in a letter dated March 16 and signed by the ward chairman, Richard Benstowe, alongside the secretary, Donald Jumbo.
