‘I can kiss anybody’ — Toyin Abraham speaks on husband’s reaction to romantic movie scenes

Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has said her husband understands the demands of her profession and has no issue with her sharing romantic scenes with male colleagues on movie sets.

The actress made the disclosure while appearing on ‘The Morayo Show’ hosted by Morayo Afolabi-Brown, where she spoke about marriage, acting, and the changing landscape of Nigeria’s film industry.

During the conversation, Afolabi-Brown asked Abraham whether her husband ever gets jealous whenever she kisses other actors as part of movie productions.

Responding, Abraham recalled a moment when she noticed a reaction from him after one of her scenes.

“There was just a day he saw one post on his page, and he was like, ‘Hmm, nonsense,’” she said.

Afolabi-Brown then referred to a recent kissing scene involving actor Gabriel Afolayan.

“Because recently you kissed Gabriel,” the host noted.

Abraham, however, maintained that such scenes are strictly professional and should not be confused with real-life relationships.

“I can even kiss anybody. Gabriel is my guy,” she said.

The actress added that many spouses of actors in the industry understand the nature of the job and are comfortable with romantic scenes performed on set.

“Most of my colleagues’ wives are comfortable with me kissing their husbands on movie sets,” she said.

Abraham further stressed that while acting may require her to portray romantic characters, she draws a firm line on infidelity.

“I can do every other thing but adultery. It’s not even one of it. I don’t do it,” she added.

The actress’s comments come amid ongoing conversations about the challenges actors face in balancing their professional responsibilities with their personal relationships, particularly when roles involve intimacy or romantic storylines.

Speaking further during the interview, Abraham turned her attention to Nollywood and the fierce competition among filmmakers, especially during the festive season when many producers release their biggest projects.

Afolabi-Brown asked why filmmakers often wait until December to unveil major cinema releases and compete for audiences at the box office.

Responding, Abraham acknowledged that the Christmas season has traditionally been attractive because many Nigerians are on holiday and have more time to visit cinemas.

“Everybody is at home in December,” she said.

However, she argued that recent developments in the industry have shown that successful films no longer have to depend on the festive period to perform well commercially.

“Recently, God has been showing us how faithful He is,” Abraham said.

She pointed to the success of the recent cinema release by filmmakers Dammy Twitch and Blessing, saying the achievement proves that audiences increasingly support quality productions regardless of the time of year.

“I’m proud of Dammy Twitch and Blessing, and that they just did over ₦700 million and it’s not even December, and they are the fifth highest-grossing,” she said.

According to Abraham, such milestones reflect the continued growth of Nollywood and the expanding cinema culture in Nigeria.

Her remarks suggest a shift from the long-held belief that filmmakers must target the year-end holiday season to achieve major commercial success.

The interview has since attracted attention online, with many viewers reacting to her candid comments on marriage, on-screen romance and the evolving business side of filmmaking.

Abraham remains one of Nollywood’s most successful actresses and producers, with several box-office hits to her name and a reputation for consistently drawing large cinema audiences across the country.
