The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has issued a statement following a fire incident at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase II, Abuja on Monday.
The fire, which broke out in the early hours, affected the 4th Floor of Block C, home to the National Board for Technology Incubation.
In a statement, Mrs Eno Olotu, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service, said the building’s emergency protocols were promptly activated once the fire was detected.
Personnel from the Federal Fire Service and other emergency response agencies quickly responded, containing the fire and preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building.
“Their professional and timely intervention effectively contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to other areas of the building,” the statement said.
It confirmed that no casualties were recorded, and all staff members on the affected floor were safely evacuated without injuries.
“The safety and well-being of all civil servants and visitors is our top priority,” the statement emphasized.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, conducted an on-site assessment and commended the Federal Fire Service and other responders for their swift and effective action.
She also assured that a comprehensive investigation would be carried out to determine the cause of the fire, prevent future incidents, and evaluate the structural integrity of the building.
“After the fire was contained, necessary precautionary measures have been put in place to secure the affected area. A thorough assessment is currently underway to determine the extent of the damage to the property,” the statement added.
