The Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to maintaining an open-door policy and listening to the advice, demands, and concerns of citizens across the state’s three senatorial districts.
The Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, stated this while receiving members of the Muryar Kano ta Kudu (Voice of Kano South Forum), representing the 16 local government areas of Kano South, at his office.
Garo, who spoke on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, stressed the importance of peace, unity, and harmony among communities, saying no community could achieve meaningful development in isolation.
He said forums that promote unity and constructive engagement could contribute significantly to the economic development of Kano South, the state, and the nation.
“No community can prosper in isolation. Forums such as this, which promote unity, can ultimately contribute to the economic growth of the region, the state, and the nation at large,” he said.
The deputy governor commended the forum for recognizing the administration’s developmental efforts in Kano South and urged its members to sustain their advocacy for the progress of the region.
He also acknowledged the contributions of prominent personalities from the senatorial district, including Senator Suleiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, Rt. Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, Rt. Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, and Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Sani Rogo.
Garo equally appreciated traditional and religious leaders as well as members of the business community in Kano South for their continued support for the Yusuf administration.
He assured the delegation that the state government would execute more development projects across the district while sustaining consultations with stakeholders on issues affecting the state.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Barrister Sabi’u Abdullahi Usman Babiri, said the forum visited to appreciate Governor Yusuf’s administration for various infrastructure projects undertaken across Kano South.
Babiri listed the construction of the Dan-Soshiya Dam in Kiru Local Government Area; establishment of Gaya Polytechnic; and the relocation of Rano Polytechnic to Sumaila Local Government Area, including provision of a permanent site for the institution, among the interventions.
He also cited plans to convert Rano General Hospital to Rano Federal Medical Centre as another significant intervention.
The forum, however, appealed to the state government to rehabilitate a major road linking several local government areas within the senatorial district.
Members of the forum pledged their continued support for the Governor Yusuf administration across the 16 local government areas of Kano South.
