Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has fulfilled his promise to support veteran Nollywood actress, Ngozi Nwosu, by paying ₦25 million directly to the hospital where she is currently receiving treatment.
The financial intervention comes barely days after the celebrated actress made an emotional appeal to Nigerians for assistance, revealing that she urgently needed ₦30 million to undergo three life-saving surgeries.
TheNewsGuru (TNG) reports that the 62-year-old screen icon, in a heartfelt video shared on her Instagram page, disclosed that the rising cost of her medical care had become overwhelming. Fighting back tears, she appealed to fans, colleagues and well-wishers not to abandon her during one of the most difficult periods of her life.
Her appeal sparked widespread concern across the entertainment industry, with many Nigerians calling for urgent support to help the actress regain her health.
Responding to the plea, Governor Otti approved financial assistance to ease the burden of her treatment, a promise that has now been fulfilled.
Providing an update on Thursday, the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Justice Okey Martins, popularly known as JMartins, confirmed that the payment had been made directly to the medical facility handling Nwosu’s treatment.
In a statement shared via his 𝕏 account, JMartins disclosed that the governor authorised the transfer before the close of business on Wednesday.

Yesterday before the close of work, His Excellency @alexottiofr, our pragmatic leader, made good his promise, directing a ₦25 million payment to the hospital’s account where our Nollywood legendary actress, Mrs Ngozi Nwosu, is receiving treatment.
We thank you immensely for your support and kindness of heart, sir. History will be kind to you.
Daalu Ri Nne Chioma Ndi Abia.”
The development has been welcomed by many Nigerians and members of the entertainment industry, who have continued to rally around the veteran actress since news of her health challenges became public.

Although the nature of Nwosu’s illness has not been disclosed, the intervention significantly reduces the financial burden of the surgeries she urgently requires, bringing renewed hope for her recovery.
Ngozi Nwosu remains one of Nollywood’s most respected actresses, with a career spanning decades and memorable performances in numerous television series and films that have endeared her to audiences across Nigeria and beyond.
