Gov. Fubara announces plans to probe Wike administration as Rivers governor

Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers has announced the setting up of a panel of enquiry to investigate the activities of the state government over the past eight years.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was the governor of the state from 2015 to 2023.

The governor made the announcement during the swearing-in ceremony of Dagogo Iboroma as the new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

Mr Fubara charged the newly appointed Commissioner to prepare for the challenging task ahead, who will be overseeing the setting up of the panel.

The panel’s mandate is to thoroughly probe the actions and decisions of the previous administration, uncovering any irregularities, mismanagement, or wrongdoing that may have occurred between 2015 and 2023.

It was also gathered that the governor’s announcement had sent shockwaves throughout the political landscape of the state, with many speculating about the motivations behind this move.

Some believes that the move was a bold step towards accountability and transparency, while others see it as a political maneuver to discredit the previous administration.

Details of the panel’s composition, terms of reference, and timeline are still emerging.
