The Caleb Danladi Foundation has trained 105 primary school teachers in digital literacy and modern teaching methodologies in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State as part of efforts to improve the quality of basic education and prepare teachers for technology-driven learning.
The five-day training programme, held between May 25 and May 29, 2026, took place at the Computer Centre of Anglican Grammar School, Kwoi, where participants received practical instruction on digital tools, classroom technology integration and contemporary teaching techniques.
The foundation said the initiative formed part of its broader plan to strengthen education standards in underserved communities and promote digital inclusion across Nigeria.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Founder and Sponsor of the programme, Capt. Caleb Danladi, said teachers must continually update their skills to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving education landscape.
He described teachers as the backbone of every successful education system, stressing that investment in their professional development was critical to preparing Nigerian children for future opportunities and challenges.
Danladi said, “The world is increasingly becoming digital, and our teachers must not be left behind. Digital literacy is no longer optional; it is a necessity.
“Through this training, we are empowering teachers with the knowledge and tools required to deliver quality education and prepare learners for the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century.”
He disclosed that the foundation had set a target of training 1,000 teachers before the end of 2026, noting that the 105 teachers trained in Jaba LGA represented the first phase of the programme.
Also speaking, Mrs Hadiza Yem urged participants to embrace continuous learning and professional development, describing education as a lifelong investment.
She encouraged teachers to pursue innovation and acquire new skills that would enhance their capacity to positively influence learners.
The programme attracted support from key stakeholders, including the three traditional rulers of Samban Gida, who commended the foundation for bringing the training to the community.
The monarchs described the intervention as timely, saying improved teacher capacity would contribute significantly to educational development in the area.
The Principal of Anglican Grammar School, Kwoi, also praised the foundation for choosing the school as the training venue and for its commitment to improving teaching and learning outcomes in the region.
The training was coordinated by Mr David Tuk and Miss Christiana Tukura, while the lead resource person, Mr Jonathan Sunday Dauda, facilitated practical sessions on digital literacy, computer applications, internet usage, educational technology and modern teaching methodologies.
Participants received hands-on training in computer fundamentals, internet applications, digital communication tools, digital lesson planning and learner-centred teaching methods.
Many of the teachers described the programme as timely and beneficial, saying it had boosted their confidence in using technology and modern instructional techniques in the classroom.
One participant said the training had exposed teachers to innovative ways of engaging pupils through technology and would help them adapt to Nigeria’s growing digital transformation.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that the knowledge acquired during the programme would improve teaching practices and learning outcomes across schools in Jaba Local Government Area.
