According to Fada Theopet, Stephanie and those around her spent 11 months praying and hoping that she would recover from her illness. He said every possible effort was made to keep her alive, but she eventually died after the lengthy battle.

In a deeply emotional tribute, he described Stephanie as a young and beautiful girl whose faith remained strong throughout her illness. He also recalled how she continued to believe that she would survive, even when others had begun to lose hope.

He wrote:

“The Death that broke my heart…

For eleven months we begged God not to take you from us. Everything humanly possible was done. All things Heavenly intercessory were sort. Yet, God said He needed His choirs of Angels increased by an additional Saint; one, young and beautiful, innocent and soulful. One of such talents and intellect. A beacon of joy, a radiance of faith, firm and unwavering. I told you that you would be fine, as if I were God. You said yourself that YOU WOULD NOT DIE IN THIS SICKNESS. You held on to the faith that we all almost gave up on. Your faith was stronger Little Angel. Your faith lingered and your words came through. You did not die because your faith remained alive till the very end of your earthly journey. You are alive because you received the Bread of Life on the very day of the resurrection when He called you to transit from death to life, earth to heaven, from pain to gain. We met every Sunday in the Holy Communion from the beginning of this journey. No wonder He called you on a Sunday, just after we had met and you had received Him one last time here on earth.

Stephanie, I personally hoped on each of my Sunday visits with Jesus that you stayed with us longer than a little while. But you chose Him over us. I didn’t know that all those times we came, you were having a private conversation with Jesus. Your voice, your very little tiny voice of conviction and faith will forever resound in our daily struggles with hope, faith and trust. It will become a balm for our every injured trust, a light in our darkest moments and a gentle help when weakness invades our faith. Safe journey Little Saint. I love you but God’s love is enough.”

Details contained in the funeral announcement shared alongside the tribute show that Stephanie died on October 4, 2026.

She is scheduled to be laid to rest on October 10, 2026, in her hometown of Akpo, Asaba. Her burial thanksgiving is scheduled to take place on October 11, 2026.
