The federal government has earmarked N6.14 billion for President Bola Tinubu’s foreign travels in the proposed 2026 appropriation bill.
The budget proposal also sets aside an additional N873.88 million for domestic trips, raising the president’s total travel allocation to N7.01 billion.
For Kashim Shettima, vice-president, the appropriation bill provides N1.73 billion to cover transport and travel expenses.
The vice-president’s allocation comprises N417.48 million for local movements and N1.31 billion for foreign journeys.
In 2024, Tinubu reduced the size of official delegations accompanying him on both local and international trips by 60 per cent.
During the 2024 fiscal year, Tinubu and Shettima jointly budgeted N8 billion for domestic and foreign travels.
Tinubu presented the N58.18 trillion 2026 federal budget to the national assembly on December 19, 2025, after securing approval from the federal executive council (FEC).
