FEC approves full annual salary for retiring federal workers

The federal executive council has approved a new exit benefit scheme granting retiring federal civil servants a gratuity equivalent to 100 per cent of their total annual salary.

Effective January 1, 2026,the scheme represents a significant step in the federal government’s effort to enhance the welfare framework of the civil service, ensuring that officers who have served the nation for at least 10 years retire with dignity and improved financial security.

This was contained in a statement signed by Eno Olotu, director of public relations in the office of the head of the civil service of the federation.

The government said the scheme aims to strengthen the welfare of civil servants and ensure officers who serve for at least 10 years retire with improved financial security.

Didi Walson-Jack, the head of the civil service of the federation described the approval as a major milestone.
